DIY: $20 table refinished for $10

DIY End Table

DIY End Table

I recently moved into my new apartment and I have taken on a few DIY projects. I love DIY especially when you find awesome affordable nice furniture for $20. I found this table for my living room and I wanted to bring a little bit of color into the room since most of my furniture is off white. As you can see, the table was in good condition but definitely needed some TLC.

First, I removed the top layer of the wood since it was cracked and 1/2 off anyway. Not really sure if I should do this but I did. Then I sanded the table down to make it smooth, clean and ready to paint. I got the paint from target for $5. I went with the Divine Color Horizon Paint. Get it here I layered on several coats of paint – probably around 3 coats and then let it dry for 24 hours.

After it was dry, I took sandpaper and ran it alongside the edges of the legs, drawer, and then on the sides of the table to expose some of the natural wood color and to make it more distressed. I would say it turned out pretty good for a total cost of $30!
